Visalia police: Officers chase down suspected gang member who had a gun

Visalia police early Monday arrested a suspected gang member armed with a gun after a foot chase near North Turner Street and West Harold Avenue. The chase followed a traffic stop.

The suspect was identified as Mario Chavez, 18, of Visalia.

A police spokesman said Chavez was carrying a handgun stolen from Houston in 2019.

Chavez was booked into the Tulare County Jail on firearms-related charges.
