Selma man booked on weapons charges during domestic violence incident
A Selma man was booked on weapons charges following a domestic violence incident Wednesday night, police reported.
He was identified as Salvador Solis, 36.
Chief Joe Gomez said officers were sent to a home in west Selma about 7 p.m. to check a report that a woman and her three children were being kicked out of a house by the woman’s estranged husband.
The woman told officers that Solis moved out of the home a week ago, and had pushed a daughter in the process. She asked officers to book Solis in connection with the incident. Officers also were told that Solis had made suicidal statements and that there were two rifles and a handgun in the home and that Solis had access to a gun case containing the weapons. Gomez said the woman is divorced from Solis and has no legal right to be in the house.
Officers obtained an emergency protective order for the woman, served Solis with the order and also interviewed him in connection with the alleged battery on the daughter, said Gomez. Police were told by Solis that he had a loaded FN 5.7 x 28 mm handgun in his car, and he was booked on charges of having the weapon in a public place.
