Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies and U.S. Marshals arrested two people Thursday morning after the driver of a stolen pickup tried to elude officers at speeds of more than 100 m.p.h.

The 10-minute pursuit, which started about 10 a.m., ended when the driver crashed the truck at East Conejo and South Marks avenues near Caruthers, said sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti.

Botti said detectives did not want to immediately name the arrested man who was targeted by officers, but said he was sought on serious charges. The second man was a passenger and it was not immediately determined what charges he would face.

Officers in marked cars stayed approximately one-half mile behind the speeding truck, Botti said. It turned out the truck had been stolen from a Kern County school district.
