Visalia man held in attack on 87-year-old man, now in critical condition

A 23-year-old Visalia man was booked on charges of attempted murder and felony elder abuse Tuesday after an 87-year-old man was beaten in the street and left in critical condition.

The suspect was identified as Antonio Perez Rios, who was also booked on parole violation charges.

Police say the attack took place in the 3600 block of West Noble Avenue, where the victim was found lying in the street with head injuries. Police reported the victim was repeatedly punched and Rios returned to kick him in the head. Rios was on parole from the California Department of Corrections.
