Three people shot, one dead in Livingston’s first homicide in five years
Three men were shot, including one who died from his injuries, Thursday night in Livingston’s first homicide in five years, Police Chief Ruben Chavez said.
It happened around 7:32 p.m at the 200 block of Balmoral Court.
When officers arrived to the scene, they discovered three victims who were suffering from gunshot wounds.
One man later died, Chavez said, while the other two victims were taken to an area hospital for treatment. The severity of their injuries was not immediately known.
No arrests have been made.
Chavez said it appeared the two men who survived the shooting ran a short distance before collapsing to the ground.
Officers were conducting interviews to determine what occurred and who was involved. But they’ve received little cooperation from the people involved and those in the residence, according to Chavez.
The victims are from the Merced area.
“We haven’t had a homicide in five years here,” Chavez said. “It’s fairly rare for something like this to happen here. But it doesn’t appear that they were innocent victims.”
“It looks like an isolated case. Doesn’t appear to be a random event. It’s possibly gang related. We’re looking at all different angles,” Chavez added.
