Fresno domestic violence suspect arrested after slashing hands on razor wire fleeing deputies
A man sought on domestic violence and gun charges was taken into custody Thursday following a chase through Fresno that ended when he cut his hands badly on a fence topped with razor wire.
The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, was booked on charges of domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of narcotics for sale and other charges, Fresno County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Tony Botti said.
The incident began when deputies were called by a woman west of Highway 99. The woman said that the suspect beat her with a handgun in a jealous rage because she was with another man, Botti said.
During the alleged assault, the gun went off and a bullet flew through a wall into a room where her young child was sleeping, Botti said.
Deputies learned that the suspect might be in southeast Fresno, and spotted him near South Clovis Avenue and East Kings Canyon Road. He sped away with deputies in pursuit on Highway 180.
He left the highway and headed north on North Chestnut Avenue before jumping from the vehicle near East Lamona Avenue and Chestnut. He was injured climbing into an auto repair business, Botti said, and was taken into custody.
The suspect was also in possession of methamphetamine, Botti said.
