Sheriff: Friant hemp store owner stabbed by employee he was firing from job
The owner of a Friant hemp store told deputies he was stabbed while in the process of firing an employee, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office reported Friday.
Jose Ramos, 27, was arrested Thursday night on charges of assault with a deadly weapon after he was beaten up by the 42-year-old store owner’s brother, sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti said.
The victim’s brother won’t face criminal charges “due to the fact he was defending his brother who was being attacked,” Botti said.
The incident was reported about 6 p.m. and deputies went to the Yosemite Hemp Company in the 17300 block of North Friant Road, where they contacted the involved parties.
The stabbing victim was flown to a hospital and an ambulance took Ramos to a hospital. Both were later reported to be in stable condition.
