Home invasion suspect yells ‘sheriff’s office’ before Lindsay homeowner shoots him dead

A homeowner in Lindsay shot and killed a man during an attempted home invasion, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office reported Wednesday.

Arriving deputies found the man dead inside the home in the 22000 block of Avenue 256 just after 10 p.m. Tuesday.

During their investigation, homicide detectives determined the man had been entering the home when he was shot by the homeowner. The man, along with additional suspects, forced open the front door while yelling “sheriff’s office.”

After they pushed their way in, the suspects and the homeowner shot at each other, the sheriff’s office said. One suspect was shot and killed. No one inside the home, including a 13-year-old, was hurt.

Investigators are continuing to interview witnesses and anyone with information is asked to call deputies at 559-733-6218.
