Man accused of DUI after slamming into police car outside Fresno county jail
A 43-year-old man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly crashing into an occupied Fresno police patrol car just outside the Fresno County Jail.
Police say Ray Johnson ran a red light and collided with the patrol car just before 10 p.m. The officer and a police trainee had just left the county jail after booking a suspect.
According to police, Johnson told officers he had been drinking.
Johnson was driving with a suspended license due to a prior DUI and had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for DUI, police said. He was arrested and cited for an additional misdemeanor DUI.
Neither the officer nor trainee suffered any significant injuries and did not require medical treatment, police said.
