Man sentenced to more than 1,000 years for molesting multiple children in Tulare Country
A 30-year-old South Valley man has been sentenced to more than 1,000 year in prison for molesting two girls over a period of two years.
Aristeo Sampablo was sentenced in Tulare Superior Court on Thursday to 1,015 years-to-life in prison after being convicted of 41 counts of child molestation in July.
The jury found Sampablo guilty of six counts of sexual intercourse with a minor under the age of 10, three counts of sodomy with a minor under the age of 10, one count of digital penetration of a minor under the age of 10 and 31 counts of lewd act upon a child under the age of 14, according to a news release sent Monday by the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office.
The counts came with special allegations because of substantial sexual conduct and that the crimes were committed against multiple victims.
The crimes occurred between 2015 and 2017 in Tulare and Lindsay and involved two girls who were between 6 and 10 years old at the time, the release sad.
Each count is a felony and considered a strike offense. Sampablo will be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
He will be eligible for parole when he turns 60, thought the DA’s office said it will oppose any release.
“Despite what seems like a life sentence without parole for these heinous crimes, that is unfortunately not the case,” District Attorney Tim Ward said. “In 2017, the Legislature passed and the Governor signed AB 1448, which gives parole consideration to inmates age 60 or older who have served 25 consecutive years of a sentence.”
