Three people shot near Poverello House in downtown Fresno

Fresno Bee

Three people were shot near the Poverello House in downtown Fresno on Monday night, police said.

The victims, a man and two women, were unintentional targets, Lt. Anthony Dewall said.

All three were taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds.

Officers in the area of Santa Clara and G streets heard gunshots just after 7 p.m., Dewall said. As officers converged, they spotted someone throwing a handgun out of the window of a vehicle driving in the area. Officers were unable to catch up to the vehicle.

The reason for the shooting is not known, Dewall said. No arrests have been made.
