South Valley man arrested for allegedly shooting his child’s mother, police say

A Tulare man was arrested Friday night for allegedly shooting his child’s mother, police say.

The Tulare Police Department was called around 10:30 p.m. to the 2600 block of Alpine Avenue in the unincorporated area of Tulare, where detectives identified the suspect as 23-year-old Marcos Lau, the boyfriend of the victim.

The victim, a 21-year-old woman, was flown to an area hospital and is in critical condition, police said.

Lua and the victim have a child and live together.

Lua was initially arrested by Tulare Police on an unrelated warrant.

He is being charged with attempted murder and was booked at the Adult Pre-Trial Facility in Tulare.
