Three people were wounded, one possibly an unintended target, when gunfire broke out late Wednesday night at a gas station in central Fresno, police reported.

Detectives are investigating the crime, which took just before midnight at the Fastrip station at North Hughes and West Dakota avenues. The victims, rushed to Community Regional Medical Center, are expected to survive.

Lt. Mark Hudson said four males were gathered in the parking lot when a late-model Dodge pulled up and shooters inside opened fire from the driver’s side of the vehicle.

Two men in their late 20s were stuck. One of victims was hit once in the upper thigh, and the second was shot five times in his legs.

Hudson said the two men shot were not cooperative in discussing the shooting with investigators and would not disclose the identities of the other two males who were standing with them at the time of the shooting.

A third victim, who stopped into the store to make a purchase, was shot in both legs.
