Man dies after shooting outside southeast Fresno home, police say
A man died Saturday afternoon after he was shot in the chest in southeast Fresno, according to police.
The shooting took place around 4 p.m. in the 3800 block of East McKenzie at Ninth Street.
Fresno Police Department Lt. Carl McKnight said it appeared there was a disturbance outside the home and the man, identified as Florentino Higuera, 43, was shot in the upper torso.
McKnight said the department’s ShotSpotter system alerted officers to the incident after six gunshot rounds were detected.
Higuera was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for surgery but died a short while later, McKnight said Sunday.
