Tulare County daycare center owner arrested for allegedly molesting children in his care

A Porterville man has been arrested for allegedly molesting children at the daycare center he ran for 22 years, said the Porterville Police Department.

Jose Luis Cortez Caballero was arrested Monday morning on suspicion of multiple counts of child molestation following an investigation that started in December, the Porterville Police Department reported in a news release. Caballero and his wife have run Caballero Family Child Care, a licensed daycare provider, for 22 years, police said.

Further investigation by police supported the allegations, confirming a female juvenile victim and identifying multiple witnesses to the assaults.

Caballero was booked into the custody of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.
