One man died Monday night after getting shot in the head while riding in a car in central Fresno in the afternoon.

The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where police said he died Monday night.

He was identified Tuesday by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as Quincy Twinn, 23, of Fresno.

Around 3:15 p.m. a black Mercedes with two men inside was traveling north on North Fruit Avenue approaching West Ashlan Avenue when a silver SUV pulled up behind the vehicle and started shooting, Lt. Tim Tietjen said.

Twinn, the passenger, was struck once in the head and once in his body, Tietjen said.

The SUV fled the scene north on Fruit.

Officers were reviewing surveillance video from the area that may have captured the shooting.

The shooting happened near a child care center called Kids Kare at the Park.
