Detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office are searching for the suspect connected to the fatal shooting that killed Lee Major III and injured two other men at a house party in Fowler.

Major, 20, was shot early Sunday after he and others asked the shooter to leave the party near Sixth Street and Adams Avenue.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office on Monday afternoon, the owners of the house were throwing a party before selling their home and moving out.

“Many people showed up, some wanted, some unwanted,” the sheriff’s office said. “Major and others asked a man to leave. He refused and an argument ensued. The man who wouldn’t leave pulled out a gun and began shooting, striking Major and two others.”

Major was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where the young father died. The other two victims were treated and released Monday from the hospital.

Friends and family gathered at Fresno High School on Sunday night to hold a vigil for Major, who had been an all-star athlete.

The sheriff’s office has taken over the murder investigation at the request of the Fowler Police Department.

Anyone with information on the homicide is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 559-600-3111, Detective Juan Galindo 559-600-8215 or Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
