Shooting at a Fresno funeral creates chaotic scene around Manchester Center

Two men were shot during a funeral reception at an event hall near Manchester Center, triggering more than a dozen police vehicles to contain the chaotic scene Saturday afternoon.

A fight inside the Fagbule Glass House Event Center escalated and shots were fired in the parking lot on Shields Avenue near Highway 41 just after 3 p.m., according to Fresno police Sgt. Bob Reynolds.

Two men were hit and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A few hundred people were at the event and police arrived to a chaotic scene, Reynolds said.

Reynolds did not release information about the victims and did not have information about any suspects.

Police are still investigating if the shooting was gang related.

Eastbound Shields from Blackstone Avenue to Highway 41 was closed while authorities canvassed the area and spoke to witnesses.
