Shooting mystery on Thanksgiving Day injures one, Fresno police searching for answers
Thanksgiving Day violence ended in southeast Fresno with a woman in the hospital suffering from at least one gunshot wound, police said.
Police said the victim was not cooperating with investigators. No arrests have been made.
A ShotSpotter alert notified police at 6:30 p.m. of at least 15 rounds fired in the area of Mckenzie and Jackson Avenues. Officers stopped a vehicle leaving the area and found the victim inside.
She remained hospitalized late Thursday at Community Regional Medical Center in stable condition, police said.
Lt. Bill Dooley said the victim and the driver told investigators they were standing in the street when the shooting started but refused to provide more information. A description of the gunman was not released.
A motive for the violence remained under investigation late Thursday.
