Argument ends when driver runs over woman in southwest Fresno. Suspect sought by police

An argument in southwest Fresno turned into a serious assault Friday morning after a woman on foot was run over by another woman in a car who then fled the scene, police reported.

The victim was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center with head injuries as detectives examined video of the incident at Martin Luther King Boulevard and California Avenue.

Lt. Mark Hudson said the incident took place about 8:30 a.m. as the women, who may have had a prior dispute, crossed paths at a nearby school.

The dispute continued near a strip mall at the intersection, where the driver hit the gas and the victim ended up on the hood of the car before landing on her head in the street, Hudson said.

The driver fled south on Martin Luther King. She is being sought on charges assault with a deadly weapon and hit and run. She was reported to be driving a white sedan, possibly a Chevrolet, Hudson said.
