Father shoots and kills stepson in northeast Fresno home, police say

A father allegedly shot and killed his stepson on Thursday night in a northeast Fresno home, police said.

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office on Friday identified the stepson as Elden Baker III, 42.

Lt. Bill Dooley said the call came in just before 8 p.m. from the home near Cedar Avenue and Buckingham Way: The stepfather, who is in his 60s, told the 911 dispatcher that he shot his stepson.

Officers arrived and found the stepson dead in the home.

Dooley said the motive for the shooting is unclear but possibly stemmed from a domestic dispute. The stepfather was cooperating with investigators, Dooley said.

No other information was immediately available.
