The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office says it tracked an accused child molester to San Diego after he spent more than a year evading authorities.

A $250,000 warrant was issued for 40-year-old Buddy Joe Sabedra in November 2017 after an investigation into a report of lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 14 at the Tule River Reservation in December 2016.

Detectives got word on April 26 that Sabedra, who is from Porterville, was possibly in the San Diego area.

Surveillance was conducted with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service, and Sabedra was arrested in the 4700 block of Wilson Street in San Diego.

He was booked into San Diego County Jail and will be extradited back to Tulare County.

The case remains under investigation.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of wanted fugitives is asked to call Sgt. Steve Sanchez with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office. Reports can be made anonymously through calling or texting 559-725-4194 or by using the TipNow app.
