Fresno alcohol, drug rehab owner faces federal mail fraud indictment

A Fresno man who operated a drug and alcohol facility faces a possible 20-year prison term after he indicted on federal charges of mail fraud, U.S. Attorney McGregor Scott announced Wednesday.

Orlando Gillam, 45, is the founder and chief officer of Dunamis Inc. Group Home, a non-profit that provided counseling for those suffering from substance abuse.

According to a news release from Scott’s office, Gillam falsely billed insurers hundred of thousands of dollars for treatments to multiple individuals.

But the treatments, which included individual and group psychotherapy, were not delivered and several of the named clients never sought care from Dunamis. Gillam could also receive a $250,000 fine.

Efforts to reach officials at Dunamis were unsuccessful.
