Fresno County Sheriff’s detectives Sunday arrested Robert Cervantes, 23, of Selma in connection with the robbery of a gas station and mini-mart in the 12000 block of South Highand Avenue.

Cervantes was booked on charges of robbery and attempted carjacking.

Sheriff’s spokesman said the robbery took place on March 24, when the suspect tried to carjack a woman in the parking lot while brandishing a knife. The woman was able to throw a cup of hot chocolate at the suspect while running into the store. The suspect jumped the counter in the store and took cash from the clerk at knifepoint. He fled with a bag of cash. A citizen tip led to his arrest.

Anyone with additional information about the bandit is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 559-498-7867.
