Visalia police seize 64 grams of meth after vehicle pursuit
Visalia police took a man into custody and seized 64 grams of methamphetamine Thursday night after a vehicle chase and a foot pursuit that ended when officers used a Taser on the suspect.
Sgt. Randy Lentzner said the incident began when officers tried to pull over a Honda Accord with paper plates at Road 280 and Avenue 256.
The driver, later identified as James Booher, reportedly sped away on dirt roads before driving back onto 156 and accelerating to 100 mph. The vehicle struck a stop sign and crashed near an orchard.
Booher ran from the car and refused to surrender before he was hit with stun darts and taken into custody, Lentzner said.
The drugs were found in the car, which had been stolen in Visalia. Booher was booked on charges of felony evading, possessing a stolen vehicle and narcotics sales.
