Hanford man arrested after gunbattle erupts over vehicle
A Hanford man was booked on attempted murder charges Saturday after he exchanged gunfire with another person, the Kings County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The incident took place in the 8700 block of Carolyn Avenue, where deputies sped after it was reported that two men were firing weapons.
A sheriff’s spokesman said that the victims went to the address to retrieve a vehicle when Sanchez came out of the home pointing a firearm. An argument ensued, and Sanchez went back inside and fired two shots through the door. One of the victims returned fire, striking the door and the side of the home. No one one was hit by any of the bullets.
Sanchez did not come out of the house when deputies arrived until a SWAT team arrived. Sanchez was taken into custody after a brief struggle, the spokesman said. Several guns were taken from the home after a warrant was served.
In addition to attempted murder charges, Sanchez was booked on charges of assault with a firearm and negligent discharge of a firearm.
