16-year-old arrested in Visalia after brandishing knife, hitting man with bottle, police say

A 16-year-old in Visalia was arrested after he allegedly struck a man in the head with a bottle and swung a knife at a woman on Saturday.

Police said they responded to the 2500 block of N. Court Street around 6 a.m. for a report of a man injured by a bottle. The victim was taken to the hospital while the search for a suspect continued, according to a police news release.

A short time later, police were waved down by a woman who reported a teenager had swung a knife at her. Police found the teen and took him into custody. The woman was not injured. Police did not find the knife allegedly used.

Police said the teen would be charged with assault with a deadly weapon, providing false information and resisting arrest. He was booked into the Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility.
