Fresno and Visalia police arrest 7 at DUI checkpoints
Seven people were arrested between Friday night and early Saturday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence in Fresno and Visalia, police said.
Fresno police stopped 371 cars headed eastbound on Shields Avenue. Five drivers were arrested on suspicion of DUI and 17 vehicles were impounded for alleged license violations, police said.
Visalia police conducted a DUI checkpoint at Ben Maddox Way and Douglas Avenue, stopping 291 vehicles and arresting two people on suspicion of DUI. Police issued 19 traffic citations and towed five vehicles.
Additional DUI checkpoints will be conducted over the weekend, officials said.
