2 exchange gunfire in Fresno apartment complex, then run away
Police are searching for two men who exchanged gunfire shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Carmel Crest Apartments near Hughes and Garland avenues in west-central Fresno, Sgt. Clayton Smith said.
The suspects, described by police as black males in their mid-teens to early 20s, were involved in a confrontation and both produced weapons. Multiple rounds were fired back and forth. At least one vehicle was struck, but no bystanders reported being hit by gunfire, Smith said.
The shooters ran away. Police don’t know if either man was injured, Smith said.
Residents of the apartment complex had seen both men around, but did not know if they lived in the apartments, Smith said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
