Fresno County sheriff’s deputy stops burglary in progress

A sheriff’s deputy was able to stop a burglary in progress Friday at the 6100 block of South Valentine Avenue, west of Easton, arresting two juveniles and preventing a possible car theft.

When an alarm was tripped at 12:30 p.m., the deputy arrived at the residence to find a shattered window, with possible suspects inside the home.

Moments after calling for backup, the garage door of the residence was raised and the engine of a car inside was started. The deputy was able to stop the suspects before they could leave, and found two two teenagers, 15 and 16 years old, with electronic items presumed to be stolen from the home.

The suspects caused significant damage to the interior of the home while ransacking it.

Detectives are working to see if the teens were involved in any other crimes, specifically burglaries in the nearby Easton area.

Anyone with information on the case can contact the Sheriff’s Office at (559) 600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867).
