Three shootings, one stabbing in Fresno leave four victims

Police are investigating three shootings and a stabbing Thursday night that left four victims injured.

A Hispanic man with one gunshot wound to the lower back was admitted to Community Regional Medical Center at 6:50 p.m. after an altercation took place in the 3800 block of East Hamilton Avenue. He was unable to make a statement, but police say his condition has stabilized.

Two minutes later, officers responded to a stabbing and report of shots fired at Quigley Park. A 17-year-old Hispanic male was stabbed in a shoulder and left hand, police said. The victim had been playing basketball with friends, he said, when two vehicles, described as a gray or white Mazda four door and a white Buick, stopped at the park. An African-American male approached the victim, stabbing him on the left shoulder. When the victim fled, he said the suspect fired several gunshots, possibly into the air.

The victim said that he had been involved in an argument with a black male juvenile the day before the shooting and believed that the two incidents may be related.

At approximately 7 p.m., officers arrived at 400 West Geary Ave. to investigate another shooting victim. An African-American woman, 71, with one gunshot wound to the left foot, was found at the home.

An African-American man, 18, was admitted at the same time to California Regional Medical Center with one gunshot wound to the left upper shoulder.

The teen said he had been walking west on the south side of California Avenue east of Wayne’s Liquor when he heard gunshots and was injured near the female victim’s house.

An unknown African-American male suspect approximately 17 to 19 years old wearing dreadlocks , along with other unknown males driving a maroon Saturn or Malibu, were seen accosting the female victim at her home on West Geary. A passenger in the vehicle opened fire on the house, striking the female victim inside her home.
