Man shot in central Fresno apartment in critical condition
A 61-year-old man is in critical condition after he was shot in front of friends and family inside his central Fresno apartment by a man demanding money.
Fresno police Lt. Joe Gomez said the shooting happened about 8:50 p.m. Wednesday at the Peppertree Apartments in the 2000 block of East Pontiac Way near Manchester Gate Elementary School. The victim, whose identity is being withheld, was in his bedroom with other people when he was shot.
Gomez said the suspect, described as Hispanic, about 30 years old with a shaved head and a partial picture of a Bulldog covered by a bandage on his forearm, entered the home with another man as a group of 10 people were hanging out in the living room.
The suspect pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim demanding money, then shot him multiple times. The man was carried by other witnesses outside and set down on the parking lot. The suspects were gone when police arrived.
The victim was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was stabilized although he remains in critical condition.
It is not known if the shooting is gang-related or if the suspects were associated with the Bulldog gang.
Anyone with information regarding this shooting is asked to call Fresno Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
