Fresno police book man in April homicide where gun, Bible and bombs were found
A man is in custody in connection with an April homicide where responding Fresno officers found a gun, a Bible and bombs in a home that police characterized at the time as a “pigsty.”
The suspect, Chad Chandler, was taken into custody in Las Vegas, Chief Jerry Dyer said Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Eric Kahl, who was killed in the 200 block of West North Avenue.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the murder weapon on a Bible, a number of explosive devices, and items thrown throughout the home in a random fashion. Kahl was hit by multiple gunshots, and another home on the same property was also struck by bullets.
Chandler was questioned a short time after the crime, but he was released by police because there was not enough evidence at the time for charges to be filed, according to Lt. David Madrigal of the department’s Street Crime Bureau.
“Sometimes in a homicide, it just takes a little time,” to gather the evidence, Madrigal said. “It’s like putting a puzzle together.”
