Man shot in face after gas station confrontation in southwest Fresno

A man was expected to recover after he was shot in the face during a confrontation early Wednesday in southwest Fresno, police reported.

Police are searching for two men who were in a red Ford Expedition during the incident, according to Lt. Mark Hudson.

The incident was reported just before 2 a.m. at the Valero gas station at Elm and Jensen avenues.

Hudson said police were looking at video surveillance of the shooting. The victim reportedly approached the two men, who are believed to be regular customers at the station, and began to speak with them. A short time later, the three began arguing, and one of the men from the SUV pulled out a handgun and fired at the victim before fleeing in the vehicle.

The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where surgeons removed a bullet from his throat, according to Hudson.

Investigators found multiple shell casings at the scene.
