12 arrested in overnight DUI checkpoint. Here’s when the next one will be
Twelve people were arrested during an overnight DUI checkpoint in Fresno, according to the police department, and there’s another one planned.
More than 100 vehicles were stopped during the checkpoint between 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. in the police department’s northeast district. Overall, along with the 12 DUI arrests, 18 drivers were cited for license violations and another 62 citations were handed out to other drivers.
The police department has planned another DUI checkpoint for Friday, Nov. 30. The location was not disclosed.
Drivers caught driving under the influence of alcohol or other substances can face fines up to $13,500, including jail time, according to police.
Saturday’s checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
