Sheriff investigates death in Fresno jail

Fresno County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a death Wednesday in the Fresno County Jail, spokesman Tony Botti said.

Daniel Weaver, 26, was found unresponsive in his bed around 3:15 a.m., Botti said. The correctional officers who found him administered CPR before Weaver was taken by ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy, including toxicology, will be conducted Thursday in an effort to establish a cause of death, said Botti.

Weaver was booked into the jail by Fresno police on Oct. 21 for warrants related to misdemeanor charges of drug possession and violating a domestic violence protective order, Botti said.
