Man killed, woman wounded in shooting near Lindsay. Detectives find clues
A man was found shot to death in an orchard in Tulare County and a woman who was also shot has been airlifted to a hospital.
When authorities swarmed the property, they found an illegal marijuana processing operation.
About 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, a woman came out of an orchard on Avenue 232 between Road 180 and Road 188 and was helped by a passerby, Tulare County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Liz Jones said. Others also stopped to help.
A Lindsay police officer was the first to arrive and found the man in the orchard who had been shot to death.
The woman was rushed into surgery and is in critical condition, the sheriff’s office said.
Detectives searched the property and a trailer, shop, an attached garage and a home, they found a lot of marijuana in various stages of processing, the sheriff’s office said.
Detectives also found recording surveillance cameras on both the shop and the living quarters. The cameras were confiscated. s
A drone and a K-9 were used to search for suspects. The name of the man who was shot and killed will be released after notification of next of kin.
The Tulare/Lindsay Highway was closed between Road 180 and Road 188 while the investigation continued.
