Man who dies of gunshot wound in Fresno double shooting is identified

A Fresno man hospitalized for a gunshot wound he sustained in a predawn shooting in east-central Fresno died of his injuries, Fresno police reported Tuesday afternoon.

Fresno County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 49-year-old Lorezno McCray of Fresno. A woman, who police say is in her thirties, was wounded in the same incident and remains in the hospital.

The shooting took place about 6 a.m. in the 4500 block of East Fountain Way, according to Lt. Mark Hudson. Hudson said the woman went next door to seek help after the shooting. They were taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

Police were at an apartment complex on Shields Avenue near Highway 168 after the shooting, about two blocks south of the original shooting scene. Officers did not elaborate on the expanded crime scene.
