Passenger badly hurt in suspected DUI crash in Clovis

A man was arrested on suspicion of intoxicated driving Thursday after he lost control and flipped his car on Highway 168 in north Clovis, causing severe injuries to his passenger, the California Highway Patrol said.

According to CHP, Bikramjit Singh, 23, was driving at high speeds when his 2008 Ford Mustang veered off the right side of the road near Thompson Avenue. Singh overcorrected, crossed both lanes and overturned.

An off-duty Fresno County sheriff’s deputy was nearby when the collision occurred and notified 911 moments after the accident.

The unconscious passenger suffered severe injuries and was rushed to surgery at Community Regional Medical Center. Singh, who received moderate injuries, was also taken to Community Regional and was later arrested on suspicion of felony DUI.
