Dead man found on roof of former Dinuba supermarket identified by coroner

A dead man whose body was found atop a former grocery store in Dinuba has been identified.

The man has been identified as Neil Davenport, 41, of Dinuba. The Tulare County Coroner’s Office made the identification and determined he died of a fracture to the skull, Dinuba police said.

Lt. Abel Iriarte said the case is under investigation as a suspicious death. At this time, there’s no evidence of foul play, he said.

The gruesome discovery took place Thursday in the 2100 block of East El Monte Way, at the former Save Mart, where a groundskeeper noticed the smell and called officers.

Iriarte said it appeared the body had been there for one to two weeks.

Anyone who can help police with additional information is asked to call the department at 559-521-5911.
