Police: Visalia boy, girl steal beer at knifepoint

A 17-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl are under arrest after threatening a clerk with a knife when they stole beer at a gas station, Visalia police said Thursday.

About 6 p.m. Wednesday, the girl took beer out of a display case at a gas station at Mineral King Avenue and Bridge Street, prompting the cashier to try to stop her due to her age.

The boy pulled out a large knife and tried to stab the cashier, the cashier said. The girl ran out with the beer and the cashier shoved the knife-wielding boy out the door.

Police cornered them on the street and found the beer and the knife. The cashier had minor cuts but didn’t need treatment.
