Woman shot early Thursday in southwest Fresno

A 41-year-old woman was shot in the leg early Thursday morning in southwest Fresno, police reported.

Lt. Mark Salazar of the Street Violence Section said the incident occurred near Poppy and Grove avenues. The woman was with two men, one of whom was reportedly associated with a southwest Fresno gang. The victims had just arrived home when a car pulled up and someone inside the car opened fire.

Salazar said the area is a “known hotspot” where there have been previous shootings.
