Police: 3 gang members arrested after robbery, crash
Three Fresno gang members are in custody after crashing their getaway car after the robbery of a woman in central Fresno, police reported.
Sgt. Cory Hastings said the robbery took place about 11:20 p.m. Sunday. One of the three confronted the woman at Home and Harrison avenues. The victim said the man wore a mask and brandished a handgun. The three fled in a Toyota Camry.
Officers saw the car as it headed south on Highway 99 from Olive Avenue and tried to pull it over, but the car sped away and shifted to eastbound Highway 180. When the driver tried to exit the highway at Abby Street, he lost control and slammed into a concrete wall near McKinley and Palm avenues.
Fernando Garcia, 19, Fernando Guzman, 23, and Omar Sanchez, 19, identified as members of the West Fresno Norte gang, were booked on charges of armed robbery, firearms offenses and possession of stolen property.
