Suspected gang members arrested on weapons charges in central Fresno
Two suspected gang members were arrested Sunday after police allegedly found guns in their vehicle during a traffic stop in central Fresno, police Sgt. Paul Cervantes said.
Johnson Cheam, 28, and Randy Beng, 23, were arrested on suspicion of several weapons-related offenses. Officers pulled over Cheam and his three passengers at Blackstone and Yale avenues just after midnight after witnessing several traffic violations, Cervantes said.
Cheam consented to a search of his vehicle, in which officers found a loaded .40 caliber Beretta with an extended magazine and a loaded .380 caliber handgun. Cheam allegedly admitted to owning the Beretta, and officers determined the second firearm belonged to Beng, Cervantes said.
