Men attack Save Mart janitor, mistake blue uniform for gang affiliation

Two men attacked a janitor at Save Mart in Madera Saturday night, mistaking his blue uniform for a sign of gang affiliation, police said.

Madera police are now asking the public’s help in identifying the suspects.

Photos posted to the Madera Police Department Facebook page are blurry but show two men walking into the store. One wears a black shirt with white lettering, blue jeans and red shoes. The other wears a black zip-up hooded sweatshirt, khaki shorts and white shoes.

The janitor was sweeping the floors at the grocery store when the two men knocked him to the ground, breaking a wine bottle of his head. Police said the attack caused significant injury.
