Fresno police arrest gang member with loaded gun
Fresno police arrested a gang member Saturday night for illegal possession of a loaded gun.
Around 11:40 p.m., officers near West Shields and North Hughes avenues stopped a vehicle after noticing a code violation.
Police said the driver, Luis Martinez, 23, of Fresno appeared very nervous and stalled when asked for his name and date of birth. He told officers he did not have any identification, so they asked him to step out of the car so they could search for an ID.
Martinez then told officers he had a loaded gun in his pocket. They found a 9 mm handgun in the front pocket of his pants.
Officers also found crystal meth and marijuana in his pockets. They determined Martinez is a gang member.
Martinez was booked into Fresno County Jail on suspicion of several firearm-related offenses.
