Alleged gang member arrested on suspicion of possessing gun, meth

An alleged Bulldog gang member was arrested about 5:30 p.m. Friday on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, carrying a concealed semiautomatic handgun in a vehicle, and other weapons charges, Fresno police Sgt. James Fowler said.

Bonifacio Ramirez, 48, was initially stopped by police because the truck he was riding in had an expired registration, Fowler said. The driver was on probation for a drug-related crime, leading police to conduct a probation search of the truck. Ramirez, who was also on probation and initially lied about his name, allegedly had meth and a loaded semiautomatic handgun, Fowler said.

The driver, Jimmie Morris, 33, was also arrested after allegedly admitting to using meth earlier in the day, Fowler said.
