Seven arrested in Tulare gang-related shooting at FoodsCo grocery
Seven people have been arrested in connection with a shooting at the FoodsCo supermarket in Tulare that left two people critically injured, Tulare police said Thursday. The incident was described as gang-related.
The gun used in the shooting has not been found.
The incident started about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday when two men got into a fight in the store and one was shot. A store employee went to help him and also was shot, police said.
Initial reports that the first victim had been stabbed were incorrect, police said.
Several shots were reportedly fired at the store in the Plaza del Lago shopping center on Prosperity Avenue at Hillman Street, just east of the Tulare Outlets. The suspect or suspects then drove away, police said.
Police arrested seven people from Tulare on suspicion of gang-related attempted homicide.
One 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted homicide and gang enhancement.
Others arrested include two 17-year-old boys; Esperanza Rangel, 21; Jairo Cesar Delamora, 19; Paul Castro, 18; and Abraham Gonzalez, 22. Each faces charges of attempted homicide with gang enhancement. Castro and Gonzalez each face two counts of attempted murder.
The juveniles are being held without bail and are at the Tulare County Juvenile Hall. The adults are in the Tulare County Jail.
