One man was in critical condition after reports of shots fired in southwest Fresno on Thursday night.

Officers received the call of shots fired in the area of North Avenue and Fig Avenue just before 8 p.m., Lt. Jennifer Horsford said.

Officers arrived to find one person with multiple shot wounds to his torso.

The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he was in critical condition, Horsford said.

Officers as of 11:45 p.m. remained outside the home of a person whom, according to Horsford, was believed to have been involved to some extent in the shooting. SWAT officers arrived to the scene around 11 p.m.

Around 11:20 p.m. a man who had driven by the scene previously drove past a second time and went beyond the police road flares then hit an officer with his car. The man was arrested. The officer's injuries did not appear serious.
