These dogs didn’t always look this way. A court found a man guilty of neglecting them
Two pit bulls are healthy and being cared for by the Central California SPCA. But that wasn’t the case one year ago.
The SPCA said Saturday in a news release that George Guadalupe Hurrerra was sentenced to 90 days in Fresno County Jail and three years of probation after he was found guilty of cruelty and neglecting the dogs. The two dogs were found in “deplorable living conditions” in an empty Fresno lot, according to a news release issued by the Central California SPCA.
Spokesman Walter Salvari said the case dates back to December of 2016, when the two pit bulls were found “severely emaciated” in an empty lot in Fresno. The person responsible was believed to be a homeless man.
The SPCA then learned the man was Hurrerra, who had been evicted from his residence and had abandoned the dogs, Salvari stated in the news release.
Hurrerra was found guilty in Fresno County Superior Court of two felony counts of animal cruelty and one misdemeanor count of animal abandonment.
The SPCA said animal abandonment or neglect is a crime. Anyone with information about such abuse is asked to contact their Fresno office at 559-233-7722.
